A prominent Warri-based contractor is currently on the run after allegedly defiling a 12-year-old boy recently in the Oil-rich city of Warri.
The incident occurred at the chief’s residence on Cemetery Road, near Iyara Junction, Warri, in the Warri South local government area of Delta State.
According to sources, the chief, a contractor with DESOPADEC, lured the boy with promises of used clothes and cooked food.
The boy, whose father is deceased and mother is deaf and dumb, was allegedly given drugged food, which rendered him unconscious.
The chief then allegedly assaulted the boy, causing severe injuries and bleeding.
Upon regaining consciousness, the boy reported the incident to his mother, who informed his uncle.
When confronted, the chief admitted to the crime and attempted to bribe the boy’s uncle with ₦80,000.
However, neighbours and residents discovered the incident and attempted to apprehend the chief, who escaped.
The angry residents subsequently destroyed the chief’s house and properties.
The victim is currently in a coma due to blood loss and is receiving treatment at a private hospital.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident, and an investigation is underway.
