NDLEA Intercepts Indian Woman with 72 Parcels of Heroin at Kano Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a significant seizure at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, intercepting 72 parcels of factory-sealed heroin concealed in wafer wraps and packaged as chocolates.

The consignment, weighing 11 kilograms, was recovered from the luggage of 42-year-old Indian lady, Ms. Neetu Neetu, during an inward clearance of Qatar Airways flight QR1431 from Bangkok, Thailand.

According to NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Neetu’s arrest highlights the growing trend of drug trafficking organizations hiring foreign nationals to smuggle illicit drugs through Nigerian borders.

However, NDLEA operatives have consistently thwarted these attempts using modern technological tools and proactive intelligence.

In related operations, NDLEA officers in Kano arrested several suspects, including Michael Ogundele, who was found with 50,000 pills of tramadol 225mg concealed in a 50-litre steel gas cylinder.

Other suspects were arrested with various quantities of skunk, codeine-based syrup, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.

The NDLEA has also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy sensitization engagements across the country, conducting lectures and awareness programs in schools, markets, and workplaces.
