Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey is new Secretary- General of the Commonwealth .
Shirley defeated two male contestants, Mammoud Tangara from Gambia and Joshua Setifa,Lesotho to break the glass ceiling.
Former chairperson of ECOWAS Foreign Affairs Ministers,her election by the Heads of Governments of the 56 – member Commonwealth of Nations comes 35 years after tenure of Nigeria’s Emeka Anyaoku,who is the first African Scribe .
Shirley ‘s agenda is mind blowing for Africa.The Secretary General seeks reparations from the West ,running into trillions of dollars for Atlantic slavery and colonialism.

Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey was born on the 8th of February 1963 in Ghana,West Africa. She had her secondary education at St Mary’s Girls’ Senior High School at Korle-Gonno .She subsequently attended University of Ghana Business School,the Ghana Institute of Journalism ,Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration,the Pitman’s Central College, University of London and University of Westminster in the United Kingdom (UK).
She holds a Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB), a Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising as well as a certificate in Marketing Management,Executive MBA,MA in Public Communication, Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB), a Diploma in Public Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey had a successful Marketing and Communications Company where she was a consultant for Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism.
She was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs on 10 January 2017,by the President of Ghana ,Nana Akuffo-Addo. She was also Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom and once served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs,rising to the exalted office of Commonwealth Secretary -General.
