Former governor of Kaduna state Malam Nasir El-rufai, has blamed the federal government for the crises that has kept opposition parties on their knees and prevent them from performing their responsibilities.
He said the federal government led by President Ahmed Tinubu has deliberately caused crises and multiple litigation in opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), LabourParty (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), to weaken them and distract them from effective participation in elections which is their core responsibility.
The former governor said this when he paid a visit to the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Abuja.
El-rufai who just recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and moved to the SDP, vented his frustration at the confusion and inactivity of the opposition camp as a result of government interferences.
The former governor said, “The crisis they are facing in the Labour Party is contrived and funded by the government of the day. Everyone knows it.
“Jumping from one court to the other is all designed to distract the party leadership from focusing on their core functions.
“The same thing is happening in the PDP, even the NNPP has been targeted for destruction. There are people who have been resourced to go and cause problems in the NNPP.
“The last thing I read about the NNPP was that one faction of the party has expelled Kwankwaso and the sitting governor.
“When you see things like that, you will know it is a contrived crisis. Which party sacks a sitting governor? And that is the only governor they have. I cannot mention names because I don’t have the details.”
However, the presidency has denied involvement in whatever in happening to the opposition parties saying El-rufai statement is pushed by his inordinate ambitions.
